Standing outside the elegant five-story Tribeca townhouse on a cool October evening, it was easy to imagine you had stepped back in time. Model T cars lined the sidewalk. And in the middle of an otherwise deserted block, hundreds of glammed up people stood waiting to enter the landmark 19th century building. Greeted by a doorman—wearing a tuxedo and tails accessorized with a white bow tie, cummerbund and gloves—guests whispered a secret password before being whisked past the entrance into the bustling downstairs. Surrounded by revelers dressed in Gatsby-esque attire in a dark room with exposed brick walls, thanks to
ABSOLUT and
Urban Daddy, the Roaring Twenties returned. Big band tunes (by the Dreamland Orchestra) filled the air while dancers did the Charleston in flapper attire. It was
almost possible to believe you were in a speakeasy until you saw the glow of an iPhone when someone sms’ed a friend to tell them about this swinging soirée.
As the night kicked into high-gear, both floors filled—with nearly four hundred people—while hundreds of others waited on the street for their chance to get in. Wandering up to the second floor, those lucky enough to get past the bouncer, were treated to bottle service, finger foods and a soulful singer who set the mood with jazz standards like Sky Lark and It Had to Be You. Seated on red velvet couches, VIPs were served by table butlers. Waiters offered mini grilled cheese sandwiches, small containers of Mac n’Cheese and sliders that you could wash down with
ABSOLUT 100 mixed any way you wanted it.
Four nights later, the Roaring Twenties renaissance arrived on the West Coast at Hollywood hotspot, Les Deux. Though there was no official red carpet for this Halloween night party, there was no shortage of stars. While Danny Masterson manned the DJ booth in the courtyard, costume-clad partygoers (and celebrities aplenty) got into the groove. Meanwhile, Carson Daly’s band, Kid’s Cotton Club, performed for the VIPs who lounged in black leather banquettes sipping specialty drinks— like the
Stork, the
Cotton and the
Clover—made with
ABSOLUT 100. At midnight, former dancers from the famous burlesque troupe, The Pussycat Dolls, surprised the crowd with a flapper-inspired performance. With saxophone tunes playing and the crowd cheering for the dancers, the spirit of the 1920s returned to Hollywood for a one-night engagement.
